On being 80

Hi everyone I thought I might give you some of my reflections on turning 80. This is due, partly, to the actual event of my 80th birthday, and also because I’ve just read one of my gifts, a book by

2025 – was a very mixed year.

Hello everyone I can’t say that 2025 was my most favourite year but rest assured this blog is not going to be a tale of misery. However, there were some negative aspects to it especially around my health. But I

It’s winter and I have a new coat! Plus news on this and that.

Hi everyone There’s been bit of a gap between blogs. But I have written another blog on My Other Blog – more about that at the end of this. Also like many of you, I’ve been busy, what with this

What I wear to the supermarket! Plus some positive news and some not quite so

My London trip – the first for quite some time!

Hi everyone! Yesterday we went up to London for an overdue Mole Clinic appointment.  It was my first trip to London for one whole year. How I’ve missed the buzz of that great city. As you all know, I have

Ageism and health

About me

My name is Penny Kocher, I am 80 years old, and I live in the UK, in a small county town called Lewes. I used to write two blogs: Frugal Fashion Shopper and My Other Blog.
My reasons for setting up this new blog is that I am approaching 80 and the key question I have is, how do we make these years the ‘best of times’ whilst also acknowledging and dealing with our ageing bodies.

So, this new blog will have posts on health issues, but I will also write about films, television, books and visits to art galleries. Occasionally thrown into the mix will be a post on style, and ones that are more serious and/or political.

Above all I hope to have conversations with everyone who reads this blog.  Ageing comes to us all – let’s look at this ageing lark together!
